Solar, Battery and EV Charger Installation in Bickley
An 8.3kW solar array, Sunsynk battery storage and a Zappi EV charger, delivering an estimated £3,042 in first-year savings and 81% grid independence for a Bickley homeowner.
- Case Study, Bickley
A Complete Solar, Battery & EV Solution
This project brought together an 8.3kW solar array, a Sunsynk hybrid inverter, 20.48kWh of battery storage, a Zappi EV charger and a surplus energy diverter, installed for a homeowner in Bickley.
Together, the system delivers strong year-round savings while covering the vast majority of the property’s own electricity use from its own generation.
- The System
What Went Into This Installation
Every component was chosen to work together as one system, not five separate pieces of kit, from the panels generating the power to the battery, charger and immersion controller putting it to use.
- Solar array: 8.3kW, 20 Perlight Delta 415W Total Black Mono panels
- Inverter: Sunsynk Sun 8K hybrid inverter
- Battery storage: 20.48kWh, 4 Sunsynk 5.12kWh batteries
- EV charger: Zappi 7kW single-phase Type 2 tethered
- Additional equipment: Eddi immersion controller
- Performance & Savings
£3,042 Saved in the First Year Alone
This system generates 9,420 kWh of solar power a year, covering 81% of the property’s electricity use and delivering an estimated £3,042 in savings and income within the first twelve months, a figure that will only grow as energy prices rise.
- £3,042 — Estimated first-year savings
- 9,420 kWh — Annual solar production
- 81% — Electricity from solar & battery
- How It Works Together
One System, Three Ways to Save
The Zappi EV charger draws on surplus solar power to charge the customer’s vehicle rather than the grid. The battery stores daytime generation and releases it during peak hours, when electricity would otherwise cost the most.
Any energy still left over is used by the Eddi controller to heat hot water, so very little of what the panels generate goes to waste.
- Installation & Certification
Certified From Start to Finish
Every stage of this installation, the electrical work, the panel fitting, the scaffolding and roofing, was completed and signed off to recognised industry standards.
Certification isn’t an afterthought here, it’s built into how the job was planned from day one: MCS accreditation for the solar and battery work, NICEIC certification for the electrical installation itself, and RECC registration covering the wider renewables process.
